• Crew cut. A crew cut makes the hair two different lengths. The top of the head is longer than the sides. This cut is done by using a razor on the sides and a scissor trim on top.
• Buzz cut. A buzz cut is different from a crew cut in that it makes all your hair the same length. You can make a buzz cut as short as you want. The #1 guard is the shortest, but you can also go with a #2 or #3 guard if you want to go a little longer.
• Pompadour. This haircut is good for those who prefer longer hair on top. You can simply slick it back with gel. You can opt for shorter sides to modernize the look.
• Taper fade. As the name implies, this haircut makes your hair look like it is fading as it goes down. This makes your hair longer on top and shorter toward the bottom. The hairstylist uses clippers of different lengths on the back of your head and along the sides to perfect this style.
